What's on offer at Skycity

Skycity is a huge complex situated in the heart of Auckland city, however it’s not just a Sky Tower and casino. 

There are many different tourism products on offer in the complex, including;

  • 2 x hotels
  • Convention Centre
  • Theatre
  • 24 restaurants & bars
  • Observation Deck
  • SkyWalk
  • SkyJump

SKYCITY employs over 3,000 staff, and there are about 200 different work roles.

  • There are a total of 1,267 steps from the bottom of Sky Tower to Sky Deck. That basically means it could take 29 minutes to reach Sky Deck walking at 4 kilometres (2.5 minutes per hour) 

  • There are a total of three circular public observation levels within the Sky Tower;  these are known as the Sky Deck, Main Observation level and Sky Café. 

  •  Known as the Firefighter Sky Tower Stair Challenge; Skycity hosts an annual fundraiser for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand (LBC).  In this event, over 900 firefighters take on the 1,103 stairs of Auckland's Sky Tower.

  • The tower has a total of three glass-fronted elevators which can take 225 people to the observation levels in just a quarter of an hour. The elevators travels at a speed of 18 kilometres per hour and only take a short 40 seconds.

  • The levels offer 360-degree views of the city, Hauraki Gulf, the harbor and beyond! It's an overall amazing experience to capture firsthand.

  • You can see approximately 82 kilometres from Sky Tower on a good day. If you need a guide of how far that is- It's as far north as Leigh Peninsula, as far east as Great Barrier Island, as far west as the Waitakere Ranges, and as far south as the Bombay Hills

  • Setting a record for the fastest run up the Sky Tower in 2009; Thomas Dold from Germany set an staggering record of 4 minutes 53 seconds.
