The World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) is a specialised agency of the United Nations and is responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism. Lets find out more about it below.
The World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) serves as a global forum for tourism policy issues and a practical source of tourism know-how and offers leadership and support in advancing knowledge and tourism policies worldwide.
The Organisation encourages the implementation of the Global Code of Ethics for tourism, with a view to ensure that member countries, tourist destinations and businesses maximise the positive economic, social and cultural effects of tourism and fully reap its benefits, while minimising its negative social and environmental impacts.
The *UNWTO has divided the world in the six following regions:
- Europe
- Americas
- Africa
- East Asia & the Pacific
- South Asia
- Middle East
