The Yoobee Student Handbook has information for students about Yoobee, Yoobee rules, regulations, and guidelines for their time with Yoobee. All students have access to this via their Welcome Packs (sent approx. a week before study begins), and in their Orientation section in Yoobee Online.

Students and tutors should refer to it whenever they have a question about Yoobee and Yoobee processes. Tutors should encourage and empower students to refer to the handbook prior to asking a Yoobee Online team member for an answer.

NZQA is The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (Mana Tohu Mātauranga o Aotearoa). A New Zealand government organisation tasked with administering educational assessment and qualifications.

NZQA is Yoobee’s governing body as it has responsible for overseeing the quality of non-university, tertiary training providers. NZQA is also responsible for NCEA and Scholarship for secondary school students.

There are many kinds of non-university, tertiary training providers, Yoobee is a PTE (Private Training Establishment).

NZQA is the administrator for the Code of Practice, that sets out a general framework for the safety and wellbeing (pastoral care) of our students; Domestic and International.

Educational Providers sign as a signatory to the Code, which means they agree to abide by it and re-sign each year as a promise to uphold its guidelines.

Self-review and attestation — International Code

  • Each signatory to the code must also complete an annual Code self-review to ensure they are adhering to all aspects of the Code.
  • Yoobee is a signatory to the Code.

This new code (effective from 01 January 2022) combines Domestic and International students. Please read it carefully and ask your Team Leader if you have any questions.

Occasionally an international student may have a question that is not learning related (student visas, working while studying, travel etc).

They may use this email: international@yoobeecolleges.com

Please note: it is illegal in New Zealand for anyone to offer advice to International students regarding their visas, other than their visa agent.

Now you have completed the sections around the Online campus processes and practices, you would have seen similarities and differences between the organisation of the learning journey for the students and the roles the tutor, students and perhaps Online Learning Support have.

Reflect on how you will change your teaching into one of facilitation and support. Reflect on what the expectations of a self-directed student are and how you can support their learner autonomy in their learning journey. Connect your thoughts to actions you see yourself doing more of, or less of.
