This course will explore some of the history, styles, techniques, elements and principles of animation and character creation.

You'll be exploring animation:

  • techniques
  • tools: Adobe Creative Cloud Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, and Animate
  • character development and expressive drawing
  • typographic styles.

Get out what you put in

No one will ensure you do all the activities, and only the summative assessments are submitted for grading. However, the more you do and the more energy you put into your work, the more you will get out of this programme! You are only cheating yourself by taking it easy on yourself. Push hard, challenge yourself and have fun — give all the activities a go!

Collaboration is key

Creative industries are very collaborative. People design together, develop together, and celebrate together! In this course, you will learn how to work with others in an encouraging and safe space. You will be asked to provide feedback for your peers and expected to receive it with grace. For some of you, this will be second nature and one of your favourite aspects of the industry, but for others, this may be an obstacle to overcome. We're here to help you do that. For many of us in the industry, we had to overcome fears and stay strong in the face of negative feedback and feelings. Your peers are in the same learning boat as you and are an excellent resource for you to practice and expand your ability to be a competent member of a creative team.
