Welcome to Topic 3! In this section, we'll explore resources available to support individuals and families navigating neurodiversity in Aotearoa New Zealand. Your task is to discover and compile what's available, recognising challenges and uncovering useful resources that contribute to a more inclusive and supportive environment for neurodivergent individuals.

The following forum activity requires you to independently explore and compile resources for a neurodivergent condition in New Zealand.

Digital Exploration Log: What is it?

A digital exploration log is an online document or platform where you will record and organise your discoveries about your chosen neurodivergent condition. Think of it as a digital journal that you'll use to compile valuable information, reflections, and multimedia elements during your exploration.

    Activity

    1. Select a neurodivergent condition that interests you or that you have a personal connection to.
    2. Independently search online for resources specific to your chosen neurodivergent condition in New Zealand. Use search engines, official websites, forums, and community pages.
    3. Use a digital platform of your choice (e.g., Google Docs, Microsoft OneNote, etc.) to create a digital exploration log. Title your log with the chosen neurodivergent condition (e.g., "Exploring Dyslexia Resources in New Zealand").
    4. Organise your log with sections for different aspects like "Support Organisations", "Online Communities", "Educational Resources", and so on.
    5. Visit various online resources and gather information about support organisations, community groups, online forums, educational resources, and relevant helplines for your chosen condition.
    6. Record Your Findings
      1. Write brief notes or summaries for each resource, capturing key points or insights.
      2. Include hyperlinks to the resources you explore.
      3. Embed images, videos, or other multimedia elements that enhance the understanding of your chosen neurodivergent condition.
    7. Share your exploration log with your peers. (Pooling resources will create a comprehensive library of resources for common neurodiverse conditions.)
    8. Ask questions, share interesting discoveries, and discuss commonalities and differences in your chosen neurodivergent condition on the group forum page.
