Welcome to Course 4 of the Level 5 Diploma in Early Childhood and Care, Professional Practice. This is the final course in your level 5 ECE studies and brings together the learning you have made so far. It focuses on 120 hours of practical experience at an ECE provider. The assessments are based on applying your knowledge of ECE practices and principles to your work experience and reflecting on your own journey to becoming a professional ECE worker. This course has four assessments: one portfolio (04A4) and three written assessments (04A1, 04A2, 04A3).

Key topics studied in this course include:

  • Application of practices of tikanga Māori and te reo Māori and suggesting strategies for improvement.
  • Culturally-competent ECE practice.
  • Local curriculum delivery and analysis.
  • Personal philosophy of ECE practice.
  • 120 hours practicum at an ECE provider.
