Host region refers to the country or region to which people travel; that is, the receiving country or region for incoming tourists.

Look at the infographic below which shows the market share of tourist arrivals for each of the regions. The figures are rounded to the nearest percent for the YE 2018 which are published in UNTWO’s 2019 report.

As you can see Europe has had the most tourists out of all regions followed by Asia and the pacific at 25%.

Note: The latest UNWTO report (2019 Edition) still displays the data in five world regions (as shown above), Asia and the Pacific Host Region is made up of North-East Asia, South-East Asia, Oceania and South Asia combined.
