General resources

If you searched Online Teaching Resources, you will be overwhelmed with the results and would spend the rest of your life just reading through the webpages, wandering down wormholes, being lost in numerous clicks. All possibly resulting in more and more confusion.

ADVICE:

  1. Look for University based webpages. As they are doing what you are doing; teaching adult learners in a tertiary setting, then their thoughts might be useful to consider. Don’t exclude primary school or secondary school-based resources but use them sparingly. Yoobee students are adult learners and therefore require a different approach.
  2. Ask Online Learning Support for support. Online Learning Support is not just there for the students and their learning, but for the teaching staff and their learning on teaching.
  3. Stick with one or two names, sites, resources at first. Choose the ones that feel like they are on your “wavelength”. Don’t struggle through some academic text that in the end just doesn’t make sense.
  4. Don’t just stick to webpages, try YouTube. I am sure you already search for videos on “how to XXX” to improve your skillset. Teaching is one of the skills you have and there are loads on video resources on teaching.
