Emails can get messy. You’ve got your personal emails, client emails you don’t want to miss, notifications left right and centre, subscriptions… Today, we’ll have a look at how you can create separate accounts and set up automations to make managing your emails a whole lot easier.
If you haven't already, it’s a good idea to set up an email address that you exclusively use to sign up for all your business subscriptions during this course. That way, your everyday email account won’t get clogged up with sign-up and notification emails.
Even though you’re only using this email for subscriptions, it’s best to still choose an email address that appropriately represents your business.
- Go to the Google Account creation page.
- Follow the steps to set up your account.
- Use your new account to sign in to Gmail.
- Add a picture to distinguish this account from your personal email address.
- Post a screenshot of your email account to the Module 5 Practicals Forum.
You’ve hopefully set up a Mailchimp account earlier in the course. But now it’s time to make sure it pulls its weight! Watch this video on how to set up email automations for when your customer does a certain action, like subscribing to your newsletter, or signing up for a discount code.
Another thing that is handy to know, is that you can actually create a disposable temporary email address without having to create a new Google account every single time.
?️ A disposable email is a free email service that allows users to receive an email at a temporary address that self-destructs after a certain time passes.
What a disposable email is useful for:
- A temporary email account is perfect for keeping your email inbox clean.
- You can use it to sign up to one-off services that you really don’t need an “account” for, and you won't be logging back into in the future.
- It’s super easy as there is no sign-up required: no forms to fill out, no information to give, everything is instant, anonymous, and ready to use.
? Let’s practise creating a disposable temporary email address:
- Head to https://temp-mail.org/en/ This will generate a random email address for you to use.
- Copy the address and use it somewhere that you'd normally use an email address. E.g. So sign up for a free pdf editor.
- Go back to the temporary email service and wait for your incoming email.
- Open the email, read it then close the window. As soon as you close the window, that email address disappears!
