Introduction

Welcome to CUAGRD516 – Develop Graphic Design Practice to Meet Industry Needs.

As you progress in your studies in graphic design, you need to understand how your design practice can be developed to meet specific needs, engage with professional networks and research policies and requirements in the industry.

There are five (5) areas of study associated with this module. These are:

• Develop an industry focus for design practice – which allows you to establish a range of professional opportunities and engage with industry networks to acquire connections for professional practice
• Address essential legal and safety requirements– which allows you to build safe work practices according to legislation and standards, and adhere to intellectual property requirements
• Research and evaluate trends – which allows you to investigate local and global design trends in graphic design
• Develop skills to meet trends – which allows you to analyse current and emerging trends and evaluate your own skills development
• Changing trends and technologies – which allows you to compare and analyse opportunities presented by trends and use networking and professional development opportunities to respond to industry trends.
