Inbound Tourism Groups
SUBJECT OVERVIEW
Students will bring together and apply all the knowledge they have gained over the past several weeks about New Zealand tourism destinations and products, and they will design and produce a group tour itinerary. Students will also learn about the components of a group tour, how to put together an itinerary and construct a tour pricing. Students will present their tour itinerary on an A3-sized page, in colour and landscape orientation. This will be collated together to create a full New Zealand touring brochure.
Hotel and Hospitality Operations
SUBJECT OVERVIEW
Students will be able to gain an understanding of hotel operations, all the departments and roles as well as some of the operations. Students will learn about occupancy and calculating daily rates as well as be exposed to a live Property Management system. They will be able to apply their knowledge of problem-solving steps and key regulatory Acts to real-life scenarios in a hotel.

On completion students will be able to identify companies who operate either cruises or water transportation and how they manage risk and comply with relevant Acts and health and safety legislation that are crucial for these operators.

COMMUNICATION AND MARKETING

This course is all about having fun! Students will be able to see for themselves how public relations and technology are being used to increase customer sales. The customer journey is being transformed to offer a more immersive experience. Virtual reality is providing more of an actual reality. The line between using traditional and digital media channels is now blurred. Using various scholarly articles and journals, students will learn how the communication and marketing landscape is having to adapt in the digital age.
